Inside the casino on 5th Street

An evening inside the casino at 275 5th Street moves room by room, from the slot floor to the simulcast theatre. Below, the Sideroad desk sets out what each part holds and the hours it keeps.

The floor

289 machines on the slot floor

The casino floor holds 289 slot machines. It opens at 9 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday and closes at 1 a.m., while Friday and Saturday run 24 hours. For a weekend drive, that means no closing from 9 a.m. on Thursday until Saturday ends at midnight.

The casino does not post hours for Sunday from midnight to 9 a.m., nor any holiday hours, so phone 519-364-7606 to confirm. No live table games or poker room appear on the casino's pages.

Tables

18 electronic table stations

The casino's pages list only electronic tables, no live table games. Players use 18 interconnected stations, a mix of automatic and dealer-assist. Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat and War are on offer.

There are no live table games on the list, so Blackjack or Baccarat here means one of these stations. How a dealer-assist station differs from an automatic one is a question for the casino at 519-364-7606. The Sideroad desk does not describe it beyond the name.

A young woman with a dark pixie cut, in an olive-green knit mini dress, sits on a wooden stool at a long bar counter by a red-brick wall, holding a coffee mug, a plate of eggs, toast and potatoes beside her.

Food

Bar, pub and Buffet

The Arcade Bar is located right on the casino floor. The Arcade menu and pre-made items are served there 7 days a week, between 9 a.m. and 1 a.m. After the bar closes at 1 a.m. on a Friday night, the floor stays open. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, a plated breakfast is offered there between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The building holds two restaurants. One is MATCH Eatery & Public House, a modern pub with a sports and entertainment theme; the other is the Buffet. Guests can reach both through the casino's main entrance or through a patio entrance.

No hours are published for MATCH, and the Buffet has no published regular hours. Call 519-364-7606 before planning a meal around either.

At the back

Races from other tracks

At the back of the casino sits the Hanover Raceway Simulcast Theatre. It shows live horse races from other tracks, and bets can be placed on them. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday it is open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday hours are 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. On Wednesday and Sunday the screens stay on, though no staff are present.

When there is no live racing, horse-racing bets are placed here. The minimum bet is $2.00, and bets cannot be placed in U.S. dollars.

The card

A loyalty card at no cost

My Club Rewards is the casino's loyalty card, and it costs nothing. A guest gets the card at the Guest Services desk by showing valid ID. Entry already requires valid government-issued photo ID, so a guest has it in hand at the desk.
